Thirty-three. Just a short few months ago I reached the ripe age of thirty-three. The number echos in my head from time to time. I've given thought recently to how old I am. Not in a sense of my mortality, or like that the end is near, but more at how much I've seen in thirty-three years and how much I haven't seen. There are many things that bring me joy in life. I have a very supportive family. My brother is one of my best friends, my sister is an inspiration her kids are amazing, her husband always inquires about my endeavors my nieces and nephews grow up so fast, my Dad is my hero, I still miss my mother, my Daughter motivates me and my Girlfriend is my partner. I really couldn't ask for anything more from that aspect of my life. But as a look back just five years ago-- things seemed so different.

Five years ago, my daughter was two, she was so sweet, even back then. Her passion was Dora and Elmo. Her mother and I had been separated and were waiting for our divorce to become official. I was living with my Parents. My career path had radically changed when I left my cushy, well compensated retail job, to being to work at the family business. Five years ago, I was driving a Hyundai Tiburon. Five years ago I met the most incredible woman I have ever met who surprises me every day with how supportive, loving, kind, and generous she is. She is beautiful. And five years ago she supported my first endeavor, www.alliance-wrestling.com. I am somewhat of an entrepreneur, managing a few blogs, a few wrestling sites, along with working as an Office Manager for our family business.

Ten years ago, what a whirlwind. A single guy living the life. Not a care in the world. A well respected Supervisor position at my the cushy retail job. Was going to community college studying to be fancy businessman. Living in an Apartment about 50 yards from where I live today (oddly enough) in Orange County, CA. Ten Years ago today, my brother and I embarked on a trip to Florida, the first and last time I was ever in that State. Ten Years ago I was celebrating my favorite baseball teams first ever trip to the World Series, I would be at Game 7 where the Angels would win it all. It would be that night that would later inspire my second online endeavor, www.first2third.net. I was going to be Business Manager.

Fifteen years ago, I was eighteen. I had graduated High School, how did I manged to graduate with honors? I was in the best shape of my life. Wrapped up my amateur sport career, Varsity Lettering in Football, Wrestling, and Track, was labeled a Three-Sport Athlete... the last time anyone would confuse me for an athlete. I would finally get my driver's license. I would start at said cushy retail job. I would move away from mom and dad for the first time. I would first venture to community college having no idea how many opportunities I had blown for myself. I thought I knew it all and yet I had so much to learn. I was going to be a Marketing Executive, I was going to do commercials.

Twenty Years ago I had began to learn what sacrifice and hard work really meant. Twenty years ago, I started my foray into high school wrestling. I was going to be a Journalist. The only courses I enjoyed were my Business Courses, History, and English. At the ripe age of 13, I was lazy, but smart.

Twenty-Five Years ago, I was eight. Almost the age of my daughter now. I was in Second Grade. Suffered my first ever injury, a sprained wrist.

Thirty Years ago, I was three... Sure there are gaps in my life. Sure there are things I'm leaving out. But I'm 33 Years Old. I'm with the woman of my dreams. My daughter makes me proud. My passion for baseball and wrestling have turned into a side job. And I have an amazing family.

If you read all this, thanks. Not sure why you did.

Famous people, outside of the world of wrestling I don't know too many. And I really wouldn't consider too many of them friends. However DJ Five is a guy that I go way back with. I'm not even sure he'd recognize me on the street if he saw me. Or if he remembers watching Vanilla Ice video on loop, over and over again. But he was always a cool cat. DJ Five has swagger and as far as I know he still does. He DJs some of the biggest clubs in Las Vegas and all over the World.

So to DJ Five, you're always Tops with me.

One of the coolest things we have done all summer wasn't this summer at all, it was just last weekend. The scuttlebutt was that their would be an Open House for the Orange County Fire Authority. My initial reaction was, no. No I do not want to see fire fighting demonstrations, nor do I want to be shilled at by slimy salesman, who insist that my current fire alarm isn't up to par. Nor did I want to pay twenty dollars for a couple of hotdogs and water. Yeah, this sounded like a big loser to me. But as it turns out, my daughter has been saying for almost a year now that she wants to be a fire fighter. I constantly suggest to her being a lawyer instead and making some real big bucks. But she insists that she wants to help people. And as noble as she is, I decided that I should at least feign support, although I've got at least 10 years for her to change her mind.

Strike one, parking was a nightmare. There wasn't a lot of direction on as to where to park and the only lot available to the public was already full. We opted to park in a parking lot, approximately three blocks away. But it really was good healthy exercise and we were quite happy to bask in the beautiful sun on this beautiful Summer's day... or Autumn's day.

As it would turn out, the Orange County Fire Authority really know how to throw an Open House. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised with how much fun we had. My daughter got to wear an actual fire fighter's uniform. We got to ride an a real fire truck, that was actually converted into a tour tram, not unlike Universal Studios, but was previously in their fleet back in the early 70s. The other really cool part was seeing the Fire Dogs, not a hotdog, but actual Dogs that assist with search and rescue. The demonstration was pretty insane, that handsome fella literally climbed a ladder. They show cased how the dog knew whether to go into action or not, just by which leg the fire fighter would step with first.

Bear in mind, all of this was free. That included free hot dogs. Free water on just about every corner. And everyone was so kind, taking time to talk to Lily about their jobs and allowing her to actually get in which ever vehicle we were standing in front of. She got to sit on a D9 Bulldozer, an Ambulance, and a Fire Engine. Just an incredible event and we all really enjoyed the day. I am definitely looking forward to next year's event. So Thanks to the OCFA, we had a lot of fun.

Consider -- Togo's The Best Sandwiches in the World

You can take your Five Dollar Footlong Sub at Subway and your "hmm hmmm hmmm Toasty" Quizno Subs and you can send 'em all away. For your years my sandwich of choice has been from Togo's. I can recall have many good times with friends while enjoying a delicious Tuna on Wheat from Togo's on my lunch break.

So its only fitting that when the newly title Sports Radio AM830, home of the Angels has a give-away featuring my favorite sandwiches, you know I was going to win.

Now I didn't do anything earth shattering to earn the free subs, just picked out a phony story out of a line up of legitimate news around the world of sports and entertainment. So thank you AM830, Pollo, James, Lisa, and Roger Lodge. I picked up my prize yesterday and I can't wait to sink my chompers into a delicious Togo's Sandwich. Grant it, I'm admitting right now, I haven't given you much to consider. And for that I apologize, but every now and then you got to celebrate the little victories. And roughly four free sandwiches from Togo's is definitely a victory.

Consider -- Home Made Salad

You ever hear someone say "I'm going to make a salad." A salad is what; lettuce, tomatoes, dressing, maybe cheese or croutons? Can someone really pride themselves on making a salad, when its really so simple? Salad Bars, so easy children can make a salad. So making a salad isn't so difficult, unless you are actually... making a salad.

I previously have mentioned how I have a pretty awesome garden. Well today, I've decided I'm going to make myself a salad... that I actually grew. Now I don't mean to come off as smug, well maybe a little smug, but this is another satisfying reason why I enjoy my garden.

And realistically, my girlfriend did the put the salad together, because she's pretty awesome. She has a great photo blog you should really consider checking out. She took the picture of the lettuce, the ones bellow I took. But the salad was so fresh and tasted so good. I paired it with a very nice Red Baron Pepperoni and Sausage Pizza and some Iced Tea. What a delicious meal. Consider growing your own garden.

Consider --Elegant buss stops in Stanton.

I'll be the first to admit it, I'm a terrible house cleaner. I'm lazy and more often then not, I do a half ass job of dusting and mopping and taking out the trash. But the City of Stanton should be ashamed. On September 24th, we drove pass this intersection on our way to an Angels Baseball Game, to read my blog on the Angels, visit First2Third.net. As we sped pass the bus stop we were shocked that this couch was just chilling next to the regular bus stop. My first question was, who leaves a couch at a bus stop. Did a passenger plan on using the bus to transport the couch to his new home? Oh the thoughts that would pop into my head. It was a tad silly and extremely comical.

That is until it had been going on week number two of just keeping the bus stop company. Surely nobody is sitting on it... besides the fact that it has no cushions, its probably infested with something. Hey City of Stanton, nobody has forgotten about Samantha Runnion and maybe if you cleaned up the sleaze a little bit, I wouldn't feel so dirty driving through your neighborhoods.

Consider-- My Garden

My garden has become somewhat of a hobby of mine for quite a few years. What started out as a Strawberry Topsy Turvy that went a wry, to the vast garden it has become, I really have put in some enjoyable work. Some of the plants in my garden started off as seeds others we bought as younger plants. Onions, Bell Peppers, Tomatoes, Oregano, Lettuce, and various flowers we all started as seeds. The Onions have been the most beneficial home grown plant, we use chives cut from the stalk in a lot of the meals we prepare. The Bell Peppers look like they will need to grow a little more before they will be used for eating. But I can't wait to be honest. I love bell peppers.

Although we are growing tomatoes from seeds, we also purchased a tomato plant too. We use those tomatoes in our meals as well as the chives. The other plants we've purchased are Strawberries, the Orange Tree, a Plumeria, an Aloe Vera plant, and a Hibiscus. Although I haven't yet, I'm tempted to learn the ways of making Hibiscus tea aka Jamaica Drink. I know we'll never become completely self reliant, but I love the idea of picking fresh fruits and vegetables from my garden and prepare meals for my family.

The hibiscus isn't fragrant, but its very pretty to look at. Our plumeria looks beautiful and smells equally nice. And our Orange tree has finally blossomed and the smell is exquisite.

And although I have no yard to plant my garden, I enjoy laboring daily to water my plants or to pick the fruit from them. I hope you all might consider growing your own fruits and vegetables

The New Dominos: Is the Pizza really better?

You've seen them, the commercials that show real life testimonies of Domino's Pizza being compared to cardboard and the pizza makers looking distraught and down trodden. Domino's promised to remedy these issues as they improved their pizza from the dough and sauce to the ingredients that top your pie.

Having previous experience working in a pizza place, I find myself with a little higher expectations when it comes to my pizza. But I also have the opinion that even when Pizza is bad, its still pretty good. I will eat Little Caesars, not because its so tasty, but because its priced to fit my budget. Occasionally we'll splurge on Costco's pizza, which is great in my opinion.

Which brings me to my recent experience with Domino's. We ordered on-line, because its true, I do not like talking to business on the phone. And the first thing that I appreciated was the Delivery Tracker. They show you when your ordered was placed, prepared, inspected for high quality, and when its out the door for delivery. This is awesome. In all of my experiences in the past, I would order a pizza and wait 30 minutes, only to find out your pizza is still being cooked. This tracker lets you know where you stand and what to expect. To make things even better, my pizza was delivered quickly.

We ordered a thin crust ham topped pizza and it was really good. They added additional spices on top of the pizza that really enhanced the flavor. And the ham tasted really good. I'd recommend this pizza. The other pie we ordered was the Philly Cheese-steak Pizza. I love a good cheese steak and this was a good cheese steak, but if you are in the mood for a traditional pizza, it doesn't cut it. Which I think is what they are going for, a cheese steak and not a pizza. So don't order that item, if you are hoping for traditional pizza.

I enjoyed my pizzas very much. I liked Domino's in my youth. It was my favorite place for pizza as a kid. But I agree with many of you that the quality had been lost. I'm glad that they are back to putting out a higher quality pizza. I don't know the next time I will order a Delivered Pizza. But when I do, it'll be with Domino's.

Is Johnny Knoxville the real life Tyler Durden?

The first rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club. Good thing for me that I'm not in a Fight Club, I'm actually kind of in between Fight Clubs, if you have one I can join, leave a comment as to when and where, I'll bring muffins. But what does Fight Club, or Tyler Durden have to do with Johnny Knoxville or even Jack Ass?

Tonight on MTV Jackass 3.5 appears on the big screen, if you have a big screen television in your home, you can also purchase Jackass 3.5: The Unrated Movie. The Jackass franchise has helped to take the Music out of MTV and replace it with buffoonery that has been featured in movie theaters with 3 different editions. Knoxville again was on the World Famous KROQ 106.7 in Los Angeles on the not so World Famous Kevin and Bean Show. Amongst other things, Knoxville talked about Jackass 3.5 on the show.

Going back to last year, before the Jackass 3 premier, the Jackass boys took to radio, print, and television to promote the films. And the same consistent message came through with each interview. Each Jackass said something eerily familiar. Something along the lines of "we know its going to hurt, but we do it to get that reaction out of Knoxville." Or "we know the stunt went well is Knoxville is laughing."

In Tyler we trust? In the movie Fight Club, men from their 40s to as young as early 20s would fight for many reasons, but mostly for the approval of Tyler Durden. They wanted to gain his acceptance. These men first started out fighting, but would later commit acts of terror, based on trying to gain the acceptance of Tyler Durden.

Now, taken the mental disorders out of the occasion (at least the split personality disorder) Knoxville and his army commit acts or bravery (or stupidity) in an effort to make you the viewer laugh. Of course the guys cash in and there is no movement to end capitalism or to resort into a more primitive life styles. But when you watch MTV tonight and see Knoxville in the background scheming, think to yourself, what would Tyler Durden do?

When learning about this time in World History I've always wanted to know why? Why were people so quick to use the Jewish people as scapegoats and why didn't anyone object to this. But in the movie "The Boy in the Stripped Pajamas" you see a different side to those living in Nazi occupied Germany.

This weekend we met some friends to watch a movie. I wasn't quite sure what to think of the movie choice. Our friend Jackie suggested the movie and gave somewhat of a brief description of the movie. A young boy befriends another young boy in an interment camp in Nazi occupied World War II era.

As I watched this movie, part of me though about the United States today. After the events of September 11th, some people in the US turned to fear and hate. My fellow country men became confused terrorists for anyone of middle eastern decent."Those who forget the past are destined to repeat it," is what Jackie reminded us during the post-movie discussion. As a country, have we forgotten about the Holocaust?

The director did a tremendous job of capturing the fear and hate of that era in Germany. It becomes apparent that people were either bullied into following the Nazis or even brainwashed to a degree. You could see the young boy Bruno, his mother, and his grandmother didn't understand why they had to hate Jewish people.

The film is very shocking to say the least and you can see how easy it is to propagate so much hate against an individual or a group of people. I hope you will consider watching this movie. Let us not let the past be forgotten.

People are different. We all experience our joys and sorrow in different ways and express these feelings in very different ways. In my family, I always thought I was the extrovert. I always felt like I was the center of the attention, be it in my circle of friends or surrounded by family. Maybe it was because I was the baby of the family and usually did get the most attention. But as I've grown older, wiser, and perhaps more cynical, I find myself not being much of an extrovert at all.

My brother and sister seem to be very different. They post a lot of their frustrations on social media outlets. And I do realize the irony that I'm blogging about this-- which is almost exactly the same thing. But I'm counting on 1) you'll never read this blog anyway, I see the traffic I know you won't. 2) I'm not seeking any comfort from friends or family writing this. Mostly this is an exercise in writing and a way that I can express how I feel, without much concern of what you will say or how it will affect you.

What this all comes down to is the Month of May for the past few years have been very hard on me emotionally. My mother passed away two years ago this June. And the expression, "you don't know what you have until its gone," only scratches the surface of how I feel when it comes to my mom. Often times my mother and I would argue, I would venture to guess that I'm probably as stubborn as she was. We'd argue over the silliest things. Probably one of the best/worst traits I got from my mom is having the need to convince people I am right. A trait that my loved ones probably don't enjoy. With Mother's Day earlier in the month and her birthday later in the month, I spend a lot of time thinking about who my mom was and how much I miss her.

Something that will probably haunt me all of my days was the last argument I had with my mother. Every time I relive it in my head I wish I could have taken everything back. I wish I could have apologized. I wish I could have had just one more hug. I wish I could have just heard her say she loved me one last time. I wish Lily would have had one more chance to spend the day with her grandma. I wish my nephew Zeke would have had the chance to have at least one hug from his grandma. So many regrets, so many tears, but I believe its because I love and care about you so much. You always were there for me. I think about you all the time, but the month of may is difficult for me. Lily remembers you and talks about you all the time. It breaks my heart. We all love you so much mom.

Have you ever noticed it’s the little things that affect our day to day life? Spilled your coffee on the way to work? Getting cut off on the freeway? And your day is practically ruined. Back to back weekends of going to comedy clubs are nearly an impossible feat for me. Having joint custody of an amazing 5 year old typically keeps my weekends from being back to back weekends with adult evenings. But, an odd twist of fate kept my daughter with her mom and me looking for something interesting to do this weekend.

Last weekend was a real blast for me. I was able to finally catch Iron Man 2, which I enjoyed immensely. Not as good as the first, but certainly one of the best "Super Hero" movies I've seen. I watched nearly every minute of the Angels sweeping the Oakland As. And I went down to the Laugh Factory for the first time. I didn't quite know what to think. We got free passes for donating blood, kids... it pays to do good deeds. We went to this comedy show that was headlined by Aries Spires. The show was fun and the opening act were a little more polished that Spires, he was trying out new material. The show was pretty fun, but as our group was talking we all agreed that Jay Mohr is the comedian we'd all like to see and for me to see again.

I wouldn't consider myself a Jay Mohr die-hard. Sure I just happened to see him in Las Vegas when he was doing the Last Comic Standing Tour. And yes, I did previously see him at the Improv. And I suppose you are going to make a big deal about me owning Suicide Kings, or listening to the Jim Rome show when the Slam-Man is on, or that I follow his tweets! Ok, so I think the guy is hilarious. And as I previously posted, I pre-ordered my No Wonder My Parents Drank: Tales from a Stand-Up Dad. Still hasn't been delivered. So Sunday night I made arrangements to check out Mohr again. And I had a blast. Jay is a funny guy but his Tracy Morgan impression is epic. I was kind of surprised he didn't do the Harvey Keitel or Christopher Walken impressions, but Mohr was on.

Since my book hadn't arrived in time to get an autograph at the show, I picked one up. Mohr was autographing and taking pictures. My girlfriend got a nice pic with Jay. And my book is officially a collector. I had a great time and I think Jay Mohr is the best! And whenever I hear the Who, I'm going to always think of Jay!

I have been a fan of Jay Mohr for a couple of years now. Whether it was watching him on Saturday Night Live or hearing him on the Jim Rome Show or the Kevin and Bean Show, he's always got a big laugh out of me. A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to see Jay performing in Vegas as part of the "Last Comic Standing Show." I was also able to see him perform locally at an Improv show. Whether it is scripted or stand up, Mohr is a funny guy. That's why when I heard his new book "No Wonder My Parents Drank: Tales from a Stand-Up Dad" was available for pre-order on Amazon.com, that I had to jump on it. If you are a fan of Mohr's, you'll love this book. I can't wait to read my copy.

McDonald's I'm Loving It? Not exactly.

Finally after weeks, days, hours, of the verbal taunting and abuse from the makers of the Big Mac, and the McRibb (which freaks me out, seriously another topic for another rant that's for sure) the most over-rated fast food joint in not only the United States, but all over the world I broke down. I gave in. I surrendered myself to Mayor McCheese and allowed my pallet to be assaulted by Ronald McDonald and friends.

Now I have to admit. There are some things at McDonalds I actually like; Sausage McMuffins, Strawberry or Chocolate Shakes, and I even recently tried their McClub Chicken Sandwich and was pleasantly surprised. But outside of those treats, I loathe McDonalds. And usually only eat there with my 5 year old daughter, which her underdeveloped pallet enjoys their cheeseburgers (no pickles or onions) and nuggets.

So after the verbal barrage from commercials from McDonalds finally broke me down. I liken the tactics from the Golden Arches to the torture techniques used at Guantanamo Bay. I just tried the McDonalds McCafe Mocha Frappe. I'm not a huge fan of coffee. I enjoy the occasional Frap from Starbucks. But that's about it. I have had tried their Iced Coffee and it was barely drinkable. Wallstreet told Starbucks to be concerned with McDonalds Java Fascination. I'm saying it right now, after a year or two and more and more coffee themed creations, from McDonalds, Starbucks doesn't have anything to worry about. The McCafe Mocha Frappe, wasn't terrible. It was kind of tasty, but it can't stand toe to toe with Starbucks. And now that I've finished up that bazillion calorie treat, I think I'm heading into a diabetic coma. Thanks McDonalds.

Its been a while since I felt that I needed to get into the realm of politics. I felt that my voice must be heard. Lately I have been filling that those elected officials who are supposed to represent my political views and to look out for the my best interests have failed to do so. I'm not even talking about our president, or even our govenor, I'm talking about my representatives from congress and my senators. I sent the following letters to Linda Sanchez, Barbara Boxer, and Diane Feinstein and thus far two of the politicians have replied.

There are many thoughts on the minds of your constituents in regards to the state of the economy, health care, the legalization of marijuana, and although these subjects require your attention increasingly everyday, I am concerned about the housing market.

I am a 31 year old male, with a 5 year old daughter. I like many Americans have the same dream of owning a home. Although I'm beginning to see the impracticality of being able to afford a single house, I would like to own at least a town home or a condo. I believed that the introduction to the First Time Home Buyer credit was a step in the right direction. I think rewarding Americans in owning a home makes them feel their government truly cares about them, but also helps to stimulate the economy. Unfortunately, this tax credit goes away April 30th. This just isn't fair. Too many of us are so close to being able to purchase our homes for the first time and should be rewarded with trying to better our lives and the lives of our children.

I implore you to make extending the first time home buyers credit a priority for your constituents. The working class deserve the same benefits as our upper class counterparts.

Thank you for writing to express your support for energy and climate legislation that will create jobs, increase the United States' energy independence and reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to climate change. Like you, I believe that in order to increase our energy independence and prevent potentially catastrophic climate change, the United States must take swift action to invest in the infrastructure and workforce necessary to make a permanent shift towards clean, renewable energy and energy efficient technologies. Thank you for contacting me to express your views regarding legislation to extend the homebuyer tax credit. I appreciate hearing from you on this important matter.

As you probably know, the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2009, which last week passed Congress and was signed into law by President Obama as Public Law 111-92, includes a homebuyer tax credit provision that extends the $8,000 tax credit for first-time homebuyers until April 30, 2010.

P.L.111-92 also gives a $6,500 credit to homebuyers who have been in their current residence for the last five years or more. The homebuyer credit also includes tax relief for military personnel and members of the Foreign Service and intelligence community, and anti-fraud language to prevent abuse of the tax credits.

Again, thank you for writing to me. Please do not hesitate to contact me again about this or any other issue of concern to you.

I haven't heard back from Congresswoman Sanchez. Senator Boxer was at least on the right topic, but didn't really address my situation. And Senator Feinstein missed my response completely. What do you do when your elected officials do not care about you? That is certainly how I feel. Which brings out the ole fireside in me. At this point, those in office do NOT represent my ideals, therefore, when I go to place my vote in November, I will not be voting for any of the current elected officials.

If you know me... you know I love Free. I'll take almost any free things I can get. Yesterday was National Pancake Day presented by the good people of International House of Pancakes. The gimmick of the free pancakes is to donate $3 for every stack of cakes to Children's Miracle Network. Obviously you could give more and you weren't even forced to give anything. The beauty behind such a gimmick is that, my local IHOP was packed. And I've eaten at IHOP for dinner and for breakfast and never have I seen it that busy. It must be great news for the owners of these franchises, because these places were full of frugal minded friends, flipping out for flapjacks. (Got my alliteration in for the week.) But people weren't just eating the pancakes. I looked around the restaurant to see people eating eggs, sandwiches, burgers, salads, lots of things off the menu. What they lost on the free pancakes they probably more than doubled their regular earnings with all the extras everyone else ordered.

My lovely lady and I not only eat our delicious FREE FLAPJACKS, we also split a breakfast entree, first time I ate eggs over medium. I enjoyed it greatly and I hope IHOP keeps this on going celebration. They have raised $3,100,000 since 2006 with a goal of $5,000,000 in total for the past five years. Just another way to give back and get something for it.

I'm not a rich man. I know by reading this blog and frequenting the advertisers you must think I'm like Scrooge McDuck swimming through gold coins in a money bin, but rest assured I'm not among the wealthiest men in America. I am not even amongst the wealthiest men in my state, city, or street. So when the Earthquake rocked Haiti I felt so helpless. Believe it or not, I fancy myself as being someone who cares. Maybe its because I am a father or maybe its because of the loss of my mother, but I always feel the pain of those around me. When the earthquake struck Haiti, I felt for all the families in Haiti who lost parents, children, brothers, sisters, etc. I felt like if I was in their shoes, how could I survive? Of course those people need help. But as previously mentioned, some of us aren't in a position to give back. I did go on-line and donate a token to the Help for Haiti Fund. I still had the desire to give more.

That's where the American Red Cross enters. There is something I do share with some of the Rich Guys, something we both share no matter how much money they have an no matter how much I don't. Blood. Life Source. During a time of an catastrophe, blood is always needed. The blood I donated maybe used in Haiti or where ever it is most needed. And although my blood might not make its way to Haiti, I feel good in knowing that my blood is being given to someone in need. The process is relatively painless, the blood donated could help to save as many as three lives. From the American Redcross Website here is what happens to your donation.

Each blood donation is assigned a unique computer bar code number, which will identify it throughout its path from the donor to a hospital patient. Immediately after the blood donation, the blood is placed in transport containers designed to keep it at a safe temperature until it reaches a Red Cross component laboratory. Samples of the blood donation are simultaneously sent to one of nine Red Cross National Testing Laboratories to be tested for transmissible diseases. In the component lab, the blood is separated into its components: red blood cells, platelets and plasma. The products are then placed in quarantined, temperature-controlled refrigeration units until the test results are received (usually 12-16 hours later) and the blood can be released for distribution or destroyed. From local distribution centers, the blood is transported to hospitals based on patient need. Hospital personnel then transfuse the blood or blood products to a patient in need.

So I took my lovely lady to a donation place. After giving up some personal info we were poked with a needle, gave our blood - our life source, and helped someone who was in need. After a few minutes at the snack tray eating crackers, nuts, and cookies and drinking juices, we were sent on our merry way. I hope you read this and are inspired to donate your blood to help make a difference.

Sherlock Holmes -- Or how Robert Downey Jr. = automatic sequel.

I blatantly stole this title from a message board I frequent. And how I waited nearly thirty days before checking out this flick, is beyond me. Downey has quickly become a favorite actor of mine and I'm only basing that on the last cool movies hes done. Downey has got the portrayal of the man with a brilliant mind but flawed with his own demons be it booze, women, or being a work-a-holic, which were both kind of touched upon in Holmes and Iron Man, oddly enough.

Before I go on, let me discuss Guy Ritchie. I've been a big fan of his movies since, Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. I wasn't such a big fan of RocknRolla it wasn't the caper comedy I had grown accustomed too.

But Holmes was similar to "Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" in featuring a complex and inventive storyline in which the characters weave in and out of each others' lives, the film also plays with time, depicting events from various perspectives. I had never known of any Sherlock Holmes portrayal before that featured excessive drinking, pit-fighting, or womanizing. Also never has Holmes kicked so much ass! Certainly if you are a fan of the previous movies I mentioned, you'll enjoy Holmes. I enjoyed it immensely and there is already talk of a sequel. I wonder who will play Dr. Moriarty?

You ever hear of the Grilled Cheese Truck?

Yeah, neither had I. The Grilled Cheese Truck is a gourmet [quick order] coach specializing in Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. And not just the grilled cheese your mom used to make. No, these sandwiches are loaded with all kinds of goodness. I first found out about the specialty sandwiches on the Frosty, Heidi, and Frank show on KABC 790. I started to plan my trek to receive a delicious sandwich.

I normally don't fancy driving to the City, but I was more than motivated to surprise my girlfriend with an unexplained trip to Westwood. The drive was longer than I would have made for most restaurants but I was okay with making my first trip to the Melting. The sandwich I was looking forward to destroying was the roast beef, provolone, caramelized onions and mustard. But I was out of luck on that. Unfortunately for me, all the roast beef was used up by lunch time.

What I settled for was still very delicious and a specialty of the GCT group that was entered into the 7th Annual LA's Grilled Cheese Invitational. It was the Cheesy Mac and Rib Melt, with caramelized onions and an order of the crispiest tater tots that would have made Napoleon Dynamite jealous. My lovely lady and I crushed these delicacies with much joy. I'm no trendy hipster and I certainly felt a little out of place, but the sandwich was epic.

I'm certainly no food critique but this was an amazing sandwich, which I would give 5 Stars. It tasted great. It was fulfilling and left me satisfied. If you ever have the opportunity to sample one of these treats, I highly recommend it. They are so choice.

Nothing says Christmas like Rage Against The Machine

What is it about Christmas that I link so closely to Rage Against the Machine? When I first saw this video which was produced in conjunction with the Rage Against the Machine vs. X-Factor, I was taken back to my days working at Best Buy. Christmas is always a miserable time if you are working retail. Don't let commercials or live news reports tell you otherwise. It was November 26th, 1999-- Black Friday. My family all up in Wrightwood enjoying the day to sleep in... I was in my old Chevy Blazer (no heater) driving to work. Normally a half hour drive, but not at 3:30 in the morning. Much to my chagrin, the parking lot was full of bargain hunters. I would be working in Loss Prevention, but on this day it was mostly crowd control. But what helped me get through this day and really every day durning the holidays was Rage Against The Machine's Testify. That sound would be on full blast as I would commute into work in the wee hours of the morning. Before I was drinking coffee or trying energy drinks, RATM was my wake up call. And I was happy. So although I hated the holiday time because of where I worked, I loved Rage for giving me the wherewithal to get to work every morning. So enjoy the video and happy holidays.

With great age, comes great responsibilities-- I'm not sure if I got that quote right, but I do know I'm getting old. One of the few perks of getting another year older is getting free stuff. I'm not signed up for all the free stuff and I honestly don't remember signing up for the Baskin Robbins Birthday Club. Probably something my girlfriend did for me. But tonight my daughter and I got to take advantage of one free cone.
Of the 31 Flavors, Lily chose Strawberry. Which makes me smile. When I was a youngster, my ice cream preference started and ended with strawberry. Sure vanilla and chocolate are okay, but as Lily pointed out, "Strawberry comes with actual strawberries!" I opted for cookie dough. Its actually kind of a sick obsession I have with cookie dough. But its the little things in life that make life sweeter, so thanks to my girlfriend who I'm pretty sure signed me up and thanks to Baskin Robbins for my sweet treat.

Comcast purchases NBC.

Its a little known fact that NBC has become one of my favorite channels in recent years. NBC is responsible for some of my favorite shows; The Office, Parks and Recreation, Community, and launched another favorite show, Scrubs (which moved to ABC 2 years ago).

So I have to wonder what Comcast's purchase of NBC is going to do to my favorite programs. As pointed out elsewhere, Comcast previously owned: G4, Versus, the Golf Channel, E Entertainment, the Style Network, and FEARnet, as well as a lot of regional sports channels. With the purchase of NBC Network, that list of channels will now include: USA, SyFy, Bravo, CNBC, MSNBC, the NBC network and Universal Studios.

Now with Comcast owning the Sunday Night Football rights that air on NBC and the broadcasting the rights for the UFL on Versus, could this be the death of the UFL? We know NBC has been burned in the past with the smaller football ventures. Or does UFL become either an exclusive property for either Versus or HDNet?

I guess we'll hurry up and wait.

The United Football League (UFL) is an independent professional American football league that began play in October 2009. The league's premiere season consisted of four teams and is being played in October and November 2009, culminating in the championship game on November 27 in Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, site of the league's first game on October 8. The league has confirmed a second season, and additional franchises are possible for 2010. The league's defending champions are the Las Vegas Locomotives, who defeated the Florida Tuskers, 20-17, in overtime in the November 27 title game.

I am not exactly sure why I even have an interest in this league, I don't regularly watch the NFL or even NCAA Football. Much like the World Wrestling Entertainment owned XFL, I get a kick out of these mini leagues. Maybe it is the entrepreneur inside of me that likes to see someone attempt a similar business model but approach it differently. Or maybe its just because unlike people a few years older than me, I never got to see the debut of a successful rival league. The 60's had the AFL, which has more or less become the AFC in the NFL. The was also the WFL, the USFL, and like I mentioned the XFL. All of which didn't last long. There are even reports of a Spring/Summer league called the NewUSFL. But the UFL seems different to me. The UFL has already signed 2 television deals, HDNet and Versus. And a 4 team league, although seems very small, certainly kept costs down in its initial season. They say they have plans to have a second season next year and hope to expand into more areas. Below is a recap of the championship game.

My sister gave birth to this little bundle of joy, Ezekiel. 7lbs. 2oz. 20 inches tall. Zeke doesn't have a posse yet, but this little guy is pretty awesome. I'm proud of my sister for bringing this little guy into the world. My brother-in-law and sister are going to make terrific parents. They were hoping for a Friday the 13th birthday for Zeke, but unfortunately they had to settle for a Saturday the 14th. He is has only been in our lives a short-short time, but he's already wedged himself as the new baby boy of the family. And I couldn't be a happier Uncle. I can't wait until to hear him talk or take his first steps. Zeke is a part of a huge family, 8 cousins on Mom's side, 4 cousins on Dad's side.

Why am I so excited about the Office Season 5. Because it was awesome!!! Michael Scott Paper Company, The interactions between Jim and Charles, the big news at the the company picnic party, Michael dealing with his breakup with Holly.

So many gringe worthy moments were in this season that I can easily say that this show has only gotten better since the first day. If you don't find the Office hilarious, you just don't have a sense of humor. Season 5 is out on DVD now and Season 6 starts Sept. 17th 2009. I've got my DVR fired up and looking forward to another season of laughs.

That's more than a clever title for my latest blog entry. That's also that tag line for the on-line survey panel Survey Savvy. But it is also true of using the service. I signed up for Survey Savvy in mid-2007. And although I don't take a survey every day, sometimes not even every week, I've managed to make over $115. Now some of you might be thinking... is this for real? Well yeah, it's for real. I didn't get a lump sum of cash, but every few weeks, I'll get a check from Survey Savvy for $1 or $2. Sometimes I even get some for more. Last one I deposited was $9. And all that money is going into my daughters savings account.

It was the fall of Spring of 2006. I would search for interesting radio I would listen to in my office. My mornings would be Kevin and Bean on KROQ. Mid-mornings with Jim Rome. Then the Loose Cannons after Rome. I would easily get bored with the Cannons. And found myself wandering the station dials to find something entertaining. Well one day I found it on the former 97.1 FM TALK. The Frosty, Heidi, and Frank Show quickly became a mainstay on my afternoon on my radio dial. As I previously wrote about earlier this year, FM 97.1 Closed up shop and the trio hadn't been on the air.

Well that changed somewhat back in March. A weekly podcast became available on iTunes. The FHFU show. The FHFU one hour weekly show is an uncensored program of the previous show on KLSX. No apologies necessary, the FHFU show has recently debuted as a daily one hour podcast available on iTunes.

New Alice In Chains...

If you know anything about me, you know I love Seattle Grunge sounding music. The trifecta of awesomeness of that era can be summed up with Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and of course Alice In Chains. In 2002 tragedy struck one my favorite bands. Layne Staley, co-singer of Alice In Chains lost his battle with drug addiction and passed away. I never got to see that incarnation of AIC. However the band reformed back in 2006 with new co-singer William DuVall, Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, and Sean Kinney. I have been fortunate two see them twice. Care to read my review?

Alice In Chains' have two new singles available for download. I recently pre-ordered the newest album from iTunes, Black Gives Way to Blue. I downloaded the newest single A Looking View as soon as possible. Distinctly Alice In Chains, the initial rifts reveal all to well what I'm already familiar with. Listening, I do miss Layne, but Will picks up right where he left off. The second single that is available on iTunes is Check My Brain. I heard it first on KROQ. I think their is a reason this one is getting more air time than the first. This song is very reminicant of AIC edgier sounds off the later albums. If you are a fan of the original AIC, you'll certainly enjoy this incarnation.

The family business has resided in Compton California for nearly its entire existence. It was just about this time that last year through suspicious business practice our business was forced out of a property that we had all assumed would be ours. We moved to Lynwood, before settling on Signal Hill. Our options were very limited, but before moving to Signal Hill we were very close to moving to Long Beach. Regardless the last year and a half has certainly had its ups. Unfortunately we have experienced a fair share of downs.

We moved dozens of those Sheepsfeet and all other equipment the multiple times we moved.

I hope my family will forge through, I know we will. I vow to make the next 12 months better than the last.

Its so hard to look at the faces of my loved ones with these tears in my eyes. Its hard to see everyone feel so hurt and lost. I'm trying to be as strong as I can be. But it hurts. And I don't know when it will stop. My daughter is taking it much better than I expected. I don't know that she entirely understands. I have nothing profound to say. Nothing of any merit. I just know I haven't been this sad in my life. And I know that at some point it gets easier, but that light is still at the very far end of the tunnel and I'm taking baby steps. My sister's friend lost a parent three years ago. And her and her daughter still hurt. I am preparing myself to never stop hurting, but hoping that the pain hurts less over time. Now more than ever I'm going to need the support of my friends and family. But for once I wish I wasn't the first of my friends to go through these life experiences.

First to be married. First to be a father. First to be divorced. And now first to lose a parent. I started writing this to feel better, but thus far I don't. I'm trying to keep myself occupied. Working on my blogs and spending time with the family and if weather permits I'll continue to work on the backyard landscaping with my brother-in-law. And continuing to believe that my mother was proud of my family. And that she loved us all very much. And no matter what, knowing that when she left us, she took a piece of our hearts with her. Mom, if you are watching over us, just know that I always wanted to make you proud. And I hope that I did. Please look after your daughter and my niece. They need you. And we'll be okay, someday.

What I don't know about Nick Adenhart could fill volumes, however what I do know about Nick Adenhart makes this story seem ever so tragic. A prized prospect who only last night pitched a great six innings of baseball for my beloved Baseball team. And some idiot who decided it would be okay to drive while intoxicated ended Adenhart's lfe. "Adenhart, 22, made his season debut against Oakland on Wednesday night, shutting out the A's for six innings in a game the Angels eventually lost, 6-3. A 14th-round Draft choice in 2004, Adenhart made his Major League debut on May 1 last season and pitched in three games, going 1-0 in the three starts..." according to MLB.com

I'm sure many will write more indept about the person, the player, and the tragedy. However the tears that fill my eyes are all I can shed. Its a horrible tragedy, another friend has passed away whom I never got to meet.

God Bless You Nick Adenhart, please keep him in your prayers.

Good Bye FM Talk 97.1

Today marks a dark day in the history of Los Angeles radio market. At 5:00pm the only FM Talk Radio station in L.A. is flipping its format to a Top 40's Chart station. From the rumor mills, I've heard that this decision was based on NOT being able to sell advertising dollars. And now instead of a unique radio station which featured FM Talk we're going to have another KIIS FM. In my 17 Years of radio listening, I've lost many of favorite radio stations. I can remember back with KPWR 105.9, (Power 106) was a Top 40 Station. I still miss 100.3 Pirate Radio. I remember being in High School and watching the Metal Heads be devistated with 105.5 KNAC because a Spanish Speaking station.

Y107 was the last station that was taken from me. 107.1 was an alternative to KROQ, which at the time was much needed. A dear friend of mine spent about 10 Hours in Oakland to watch Pearl Jam and the Rolling Stones thanks to 107.1. That station too flipped its format to a spanish speaking station. Even as recent as of December of last year, Indie 103 ( I didn't really listen to that station), went to a spanish speaking format.

97.1 hurts, because ever since I've started my new career it has been there for me. Working in an office and growing weary of sports talk radio, FM Talk was what captured my attention. I will mostly miss Frosty, Heidi, and Frank. I will also miss Danny Bonaduce and Tom Leykis. I hope those show's host land on their feet and land somewhere, where I can continue to listen.

This is a sad day for me. And at Friday 5pm, Feb. 20th we'll all say goodbye to individuality in Los Angeles and say hello to conformity. Farewell!

Aeroméxico Flight 498

It was as normal as any other Sunday. Sunday Mornings for some kids were spent in front of a television watching cartoons and eating their favorite sugary cereal containing the highest quality toys crafted by the fine inhabitants of Hong Kong or putting on the nicest clothes they had to impress fellow parishioners at their local church. I was a little different. My family wasn't exactly the Church going kind of folk and I think my parents felt I had enough brain rotting on Saturdays. So every Sunday Morning, my father took my brother, my sister, and I to Cypress College's Weekend Swapmeet.

My father would allow me to spend my five dollar allowance on pretty much anything I wanted. Early on that five big ones would go towards replenishing my He-Man collection or towards recruiting my ever growing G.I. Joe. One Sunday in particular my sister and I found ourselves separated from my father in search of tasty snacks. We would run around in a gigantic game of hide and seek and tag. Upon seeing my father I looked up towards the North Eastern Sky. And what I saw amazed me... an explosion and a plane disintegrated before my eyes. What frightened me most is that my best friend at the time Marco was supposed to be coming back to the United States from his Week Long Vacation in Mexico.

Imagine my horror when I learned that the mangled mess in the air was the remnants of Aeroméxico Flight 498 that was destroyed when a small charter plane flew right into the other plane. I nearly wept when I heard it was Aeroméxico, because that was the name of the airline Marco was flying out on. And this was the time he was supposed to be coming home. It would be a few days later, Marco told me that he was supposed to be on that flight, but a last minute decision kept him safely in Mexico for an extra day.

The last time I thought of this was during September 11th when I was hoping that the devastating collision into the World Trade Center was some lethal mistake. I thought about it again when I was checking Google Maps and saw that there is a feature that have links from Wikipedia. Just another reason I love Google Maps.

This is old but I still think its awesome. Durning the week of the World Series I had picked up my beautiful daughter Lily from day care. As we are driving home, I turned on the Home of the Angels AM830 KLAA. The afternoon drive time program is called "The Drive with Dave Smith" I enjoy his program as he has an undeniable Angels bias and thats exactlly what I want to hear in my sports programing. Anyway, Smith starts talking about Angels 1st Basemen Mark Teixeria. Big Tex who is now a free agent is being persued by the Boston Red Sox. Smith announces he thinks Teixeria will be signing with the Red Sox. Lily starts yelling BOO!!! Because it's increasingly getting closer to Halloween I ask her "Are you being a ghost?" Lily's reply was priceless. "No Daddy, we boo the Red Sox!" After I errupted with laughter, which she joined in, I realized, I must be a candidate for Father of the Year! I shared that with some baseball bloggers I visit on occasion. They gave me this joke.

“I am a Red Sox fan,” a first-grade teacher explains to her class. “Who likes the Red Sox?”

Everyone raises their hand except one little girl.

“Janie,” the teacher says, surprised. “Why didn’t you raise your hand?”

“I’m not a Red Sox fan.”

“Well, if you are not a Red Sox fan, then what team do you like?”

“The Angels,” Janie answers.

“Why in the world are you a Angels fan?”

“Because my mom and dad are Angels fans.”

“That’s no reason to be a Angels fan,” the teacher replies, annoyed. “You don’t have to be just like your parents. What if your mom and dad were morons? What would you be then?”

“A Red Sox fan.”

100 Wins and 62 Losses in the regular season and the best record in baseball does not seem to translate well in post season success. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have been able to clutch on to defeat out of the welcoming hand of victory against the Boston Red Sox. As the series stands the Angels are down 2 games to zero and will be having quite the akward trip to Boston.

Last night game proved to me that there is a mystic about facing the Red Sox that our franchise just cannot shake. Pitching that has been lights out, becomes vunerable. Offense that has been on fire is quickly exstinguished. It feels as if the Angels bottom of the batting order has fallen down a proverbial rabbit whole, but instead of finding a wonderland on the other side we've found an inability to count on offense from anyone not named Torri, Vladimir, or Mark. And a team who is know for its base running seems to become lost. More so, guys who play the best defense in the bigs, mutate into little league players. Bear in mind, the Red Sox are playing hurt and last night's game did not include Mike Lowel or Jed Lowrie. And last years most intimidating hitter, Manny Ramirez is playing for a different team and wiley veteran Curt Schilling remains on the DL.

The Angels join their National League Counterpart the Chicago Cubs, The Milwaukee Brewers, and the Chicago White Sox as teams who are down 2-0. Although it is unlikely, the Angels still have an opportunity to take the best of five series. I'm naturally a pessimistic and I find it especially hard to be optimistic about the Angels opportunities at the Green Monster. Much like the Angels offense I have fallen down the rabbit whole. Unfortunately there is no wonderland for me either. In fact there is just a bad taste in my mouth and a cornicopia of bitterness. I will be watching the game on Sunday with one hand over my eye, peeking through. As if the last few years of suffering through playoff loses have taught me anything; ghost, ghouls, and goblins don't make the month of October frightning, it is the way the Angels play haunts me year after year.

Tech Support Turmoil.

I just spent the last 5 days trying to activate a wireless broadband device. I won't specify which company, but if you look at my rendition of the "technicians" you could probably deduce who I am referring too. Now, one point I would like to make clear, that everyone whom I spoke to were friendly and I honestly believe they did everything they could to help me reach my internet bliss. Unfortunately, this particular wireless group uses almost a pyramid type structure. At the bottom floor there are many friendly "technicians" who read from a manual. Offer very little in trouble shooting. My gal to the right was literary reading from a script. She even read aloud the parts she wasn't supposed to read to me. For example... "It should take up to one hour for the provision to take affect, Explain to the customer what provisioning means." I did make multiple calls usually up to 45 minutes per phone call and usually got not where. I even had time to doodle that lovable couple to the right while waiting. Those were the 2 "technicians" who did the absolute least to get me connected to the wireless web. First my gal asked me if I had updated the latest software. I replied with "I have no internet, how am I going to be able to download anything?" Then She insisted that I uninstall and then re-install my program. That it would take an hour for the provisioning to take affect and that she'd call me back in an hour. Thanks for nothing. 2 hours pass, she hadn't called back. I went ahead and call back to tech support and explained my entire situation all over again. The operator said... "I understand your frustration, let me just put you into our Premier Technicians." Finally the top level of the pyramid, the actual technicians. The only time I really got anywhere is when the folks had me manually program the phone with secret codes... (Shift 3, Shift 3, D,A,T,A.) I spoke to 3 actual technicians through out the hole ordeal. Tuesday we programed some "provisioning." Wednesday we manually activated the phone. And Thursday we did a manual password reset. For my troubles I was credited half of my monthly bill. And now the service works great.

Let's see... last year season started off with Hillenbrand at 1st. OC at SS. And Juan Rivera in Right. Fast forward to this year our field looks a lot different. Napoli proves to be the better choice at catcher, Kotchman at 1st, S-Rod at 2nd (while Kendrick heals up), Izturis at Short (But shares time with Aybar when he's healthy), Figgins at 3rd (although Wood has been seeing a lot of time at 3rd because of Figgins injuries), Vlad in right, Torri Hunter in Center, Garret in Left, and Matthews working as the DH/Utility Outfielder for the Angels.

And even with all of our injuries we're still sitting at 1st place in the AL West. Go HALOS

There is few things in this world that I enjoy more then going to the ball park. There is something about driving down the 5 to Angel Stadium that brings a smile to my face. I have been a die-hard Angels fan for as long as I can remember. I spent many of years cheering on terrible teams. But as a reward from the Baseball Gods, I've been treated to many great teams the last couple of years. The Angels if you couldn't tell are my team of choice.
I can remember in my youth making the pilgrimage to the Big A. My brother, sister, dad, and I would all sit back and watch my childhood idols. Those years turned into years going to the stadium being the tag along with my brother and his friends. That soon translated into me, gearing up to the stadium with my friends. And now completing the full circle of life & baseball, I take my daughter to games. I've been bringing her to games since she was a baby. Nothing makes it sweeter for the Angels taking 2/3 games at the Stadium.
I was able to go to the game Friday the 16th, because of my dear old brother Jim. Not only is he a great brother, Lily's Godfather, Lily's Uncle, and one of my best friends... but he too is an avid Angel's fan. He is responsible for my mini package, one hell of a Christmas Present.

I'm always looking for a way to make a quick buck. Of course, only legally! A few years ago, before Lily was born, I went to eBay to make my fortunes. Well I didn't make a fortune, but I got rid of a lot of a nice junk. One of the things that blew my mind was being able to see my KROQ stickers. Now let me further explain, KROQ stickers are usually found at KROQ Concerts, KROQ events, in KROQ Calendars, and lastly at local restaurants. I was never fond of car decoration, nor do I have a need to adorn my notebooks or bedroom doors with the stickers. However I was able to con someone into purchasing what they deemed was $9.00 worth of KROQ stickers. If memory serves me it was like 4 or 5 stickers. But c'mon, I didn't do anything to earn these decals. I just didn't throw them away after six months, or 10 months, or 3 years. So here I am, at it again. Trying to sell these cool adhesive graphics. Not too many movies give me chills when I see commercials for them. I got really excited about Transformers this last year, which kind of failed to deliver. I was very excited about the X-Men movies, but the third one failed to deliver. Same with Spider-Man. But this Iron Man looks awesome. And I don't mind telling you, that I'm very excited for this.

The Best Thing About Downloading 150 songs on ITunes

I was kind of bummed out with all the restrictions placed on me from my newly acquired KROQ ITune Gift Cards. The first problem is that they are only good for one song at a time. Meaning, if I want to buy an album, I have to buy every song separately and I don't event get the Booklets. But to make matters worse I have to purchase all of my 150 songs before the 12th of March. Now I have already purchased Alice in Chains 'Unplugged' (which is probably the best buy), the Bravery's 'Bravery,' Gwen Stefani's 'Great Escape,' Jet's 'Get Born' and Silversun Pickups's 'Carnavas.' I never thought I'd have this much trouble picking and choosing songs to download. The burden I bare is of the audio variety, because I can think of a million downloads that would complete my existence when I don't wield the Free Downloads, but it seems that I have somewhat of a road block that is stopping me from simply picking and choosing the best tunes.

As always I would welcome some suggestions. As of right now I'm thinking Lynrd Skynard, Depeche Mode, Van Halen, but nothing is in concrete. So please leave me a comment and give me a suggestion.

Upon first seeing this video, I think... spectacular. As I watched the video, I was blown away with the ability of these three "musicians" to create this unique sound. However, what makes me scratch my head is, who has that kind of time to put together this electronic orchestra. I mean, it's a novel idea, but how long did they practice before they recorded it. Anyway, I think I'll put my thoughts to rest and just enjoy the sound.

As I lied in bed last night, not being able to sleep whatsoever, I decided to play a CD. Which ironically is titled, "Sleep Through the Static" by Jack Johnson. The smooth soft sounds, I thought for sure would inspire my pending slumber. However, that wasn't the case. In fact quite the opposite happened. I ended up spiraling out of control with thoughts inspired by the latest installment of melodies by Jack Johnson. "Sleep Through the Static" was recorded in an totally environmentally friendly studio. Johnson is known for his devotion to protect the environment. One thing that sticks out in my mind is seeing Johnson on his roof, seemingly installing solar panels. The roof basically looks like a dozen solar panels all over encompassing the rough.
Needles to say, we aren't all rock stars with large buckets of cash to fulfill our desires.
So how can we do our parts to clean up the environment?
I like recycling. It pays to recycle. Cans and bottles are fairly commonly known. However, what about ink cartridges? Or even old cell phones? I have been using free recycling for about a year now. I think it's great. You can sign up clicking on my link. It keeps the old cartridges out of dump sites, it puts a little extra cash in our pockets, and its good for the environment. So take a look into it. And I can speak for the company myself, they are a class act. So if you currently use ink cartridges please don't toss them out. Use this site and pad your pockets and help the environment.

This isn't the first time I've been on KROQ. This isn't the first time I've won something on KROQ. But this is the first time I've won a call in contest. The came is called The IPod Shuffle, featuring Bean's IPod. I couldn't believe I won. Now bare in mind I was barely awake at 6:15am when I called in. I called in and talked to the Dave, the King of Mexico. He quickly put me on hold. Then Alex picked up the phone and asked my answer. She asked me if I knew who sang the song, I didn't, so she told me. So after listening to all of these good guesses, I finally greeted Kevin and Bean with the "White Devil" reference. I was driving to work, so I couldn't get too crazy. But its always nice to be a winner. Especially because the night before my friends and I were just talking about the prizes we've won from KROQ. So Thank you Bean for being so predictable and thanks to KROQ for hooking me up.

House is a Christmas Episode...

To celebrate the fact that Fox has got around to airing the Christmas Episode of House, staring Hugh Laurie and an awesome cast of others, including Kal Penn, I too have decided to release some late Christmas footage.

Here are some videos of my daughter, Lily, opening up Christmas presents. She really brought joy with each present she opened and she was genuinely happy with every gift she received. Made the holiday infinitely better.

In case you were wondering, my efforts to raise money for my daughter's college fund are going well. (Sort of). As some of you know, I created this blog and a few various other blogs in order to create a steady flow of income to put into Lily's college fund. In 2007, I raised almost $90.00. I have high expectations for 2008. I've already made about $30.00 using Revver, Survey Savvy, and now I've added Google Adsense and Shopping Ads.com.

And I'm happy to say that the readership on my themed blog is a little over 210 people a week. The real interesting thing is that I've come to find out that I actually have readers in Japan, Australia, Canada, the UK Germany, and all over the US. So I'm excited. It makes me happy.

Chris Cornell

First off, he's one of my favorite artists. As noted on the photo I had the opportunity to meet Chris. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make it. And had to photoshop myself in it. Cornell won me over back in the early 90's with the grunge/rock band Sound Garden. I especially love the one off tribute album "Temple of the Dog," where Cornell joins members of Mother Love Bone and Eddie Vedder to make a great cd. After giving album after album of pure grunge goodness, Cornell pursued a solo career. Where he re-invented his sound in what I'd call Chick Music. Years later Cornell joined another of my favorite artists, Rage Against the Machine. The new band titled Audioslave made waves buy again reinventing Cornell's earlier sound with a little less raw Rage. The band broke up earlier this year, which was dissapointing because the band did really hit their stride until the 3rd album.
Well while strolling through REVVER, I found some Chris Cornell videos during his recent solo tour. Please check 'em out and enjoy. It's Chris Freakin Cornell!!!

Introducing... the new "Big Double-Double Mac"

Feast your greedy little eyes on this. What this, some sort of illusion? Nay, sayers, nay. This is in fact a 100% real "Big Double-Double Mac" And its just another demonstration how my girlfriend is better than yours.
If you've ever been to McDonalds, then you must be aware of their famous, but not very good tasting Big Mac. A bun, cheese, meat, bun, cheese, meat, secret sauce, pickles. Simple enough right? But McDonalds, well to put it mildly, sucks. Now imagine that glory that is In-N-Out. The burgers are far superior to that of the fried burgers at that other place. But you can't get them to make you a Big Mac styled Double Double. I've asked.
Now enter my incredibly wonderful girlfriend. She's a charmer. And she charmed her way into the heart of on In-N-Out employee. Because although I've asked for this treat a bevy of times, I've never been successful. However, she was! And here is the evidence of this delicious beast. In researching this burger, I checked BADMOUTH'S Secret In-N-Out Menus. I didn't find it on their site. So I'm linking this topic to their site. I hope people bug the hell out of In-N-Out to get this on their secret menu. And I'll certainly investigate other items on the secret menu. You should too!

Alice in Chains and Velvet Revolver:
Gibson Amphitheater, Universal City, CA.

Last night was the 2nd time in a little more than a year that I was fortunate enough to see the band Alice in Chains. This concert was headline by Velvet Revolver, who for the most part I am indifferent too. Our seats were decent. We had a clear view of the stage. However, looking at these pictures makes it look like we were in the nosebleeds. Which wasn't the case at all. The concert was actually pretty awesome. Be a big fan of the "NEW" Alice in Chains is quite rewarding when they deliver on the 2 shows I've seen of theirs. Besides Telegraph Rd, I tied my record for seeing Alice In Chains with my record for seeing Pearl Jam.

My review of the concert, to put it simply, was great. Brother Jim and I were completely sober and rocked out to some of our favorite A.I.C. songs. I started with the Jay Cal-erokie. By singing along to the songs I was most familiar with. I turned around to look at my brother, because I didn't know if he saw me being goofy. And he was singing along too. My brother and I have a lot of things in common and most of the music we listen too is the same. Some of my favorite songs did get played. "What The Hell Have I," "Rain When I Die," "Angry Chair" "Wood?," and "Rooster." Of course there were more songs, but with 4 hours of sleep.
Velvet Revolver was also pretty good. Scott Weiland is quite the entertainer. He reminded me of Mick Jagger. Slash did an awesome job. They covered some STP songs and some Guns 'N Roses songs. VR put on a good show, but I wouldn't consider myself a fan. And at points felt completely lost, but not knowing certain songs. But it was a hell of a night and thanks to Brother Jim for making it happen.

I did record a few songs using my digital camera. Doesn't take pictures very well from far away, but I'll be converting these files to WAV. and be enjoying them later. Belove is the video of "Rooster" being performed live. It was brilliant. Unfortunately the video looks like it was shot through the Hubble Telescope. But Enjoy won't you?

So this was a video taken on my birthday. We're at P.F. Changs. Wow what a tasty meal. Anyway, Lily was doing her best to use these chopsticks. I didn't notice how much she was concentrating. Damn, I love the Wii

When I first heard of Nintendo's new concept gaming device I scoffed. Never did I think a Wii, would be able to compete with a more powerful competitors, the X-Box 360 of the Playstation 3. The graphics don't seem advance. You can't use the Wii as a DVD player, let alone a Blu-Ray or a HD player. And lets talk about the game play. Traditional Gamers are used to a hand held controller, with a couple of buttons. However, you only have to play the Wii once or twice and your hooked. The controller is wireless. It's almost like Virtual Reality. If you move in real life, you character moves in the game.
I recently received the Wii as a gift. Wow. It came with a sports pack. Golf, Tennis, Bowling, Baseball, and Boxing. Well I had played all the games except the boxing. All I have to say is kudos to Nintendo. In a nation of obesity and laziness, I'm glad that companies like Nintendo has found a way to get kids to stay active. Even if its just inside the house, you'll definitely burn calories jumping up and down playing these games. And over the weekend I played the Boxing game for the first time. I burned more than a few calories. I know I'm out of shape and the Wii proved it. After playing for about an hour, my back and biceps were noticeably sore.
I never thought I would ever be this excited about the game play of any video game console, but I love the Wii. And if you hadn't done it yet, purchase the web browser. Great for watching YouTube videos. Or checking out your favorite BLOGS!

Its all happening so fast.

Where to begin. So it is official. I'm 29. I had quite the birthday surprise. Now I'm not going to tell you that my girlfriend is better than yours, but she is.

The night before my birthday she gives me a cryptic message. "I'm going to tell you to do something tomorrow, and you're going to do it, ok?" My first reaction is that this is going to lead to a "sexy-time." But the events of the 28th weren't really all that sexy, but very sweet. At 5:30am, I get a text message that reads "Leave 10 Minutes Early and pack a spoon, a fork, and a knife." I abide by the rules because I promised.

I walk out of my house and there is breakfast waiting for me on the roof of my car. Lurking in the shadows was Michelle. We jumped in the car and she explained to me what was for breakfast. She also gave me 2 CDs that I've wanted for a while; Jack Johnson's 1st CD and Bravery's 2nd CD. We both turned around to leave. However, Michelle sneaked into my home and cleaned. And didn't just clean a little. She cleaned for over 7 and 1/2 hours to make my home amazingly clean. Complete with replacing shower curtains. All the while, she put on a rouse of "hanging out at her home"

I was off to pick up Lily from Day Care. As we approached home Michelle "met" us. I got home for cupcakes, a clean house, and anticipation of dinner at P.F. Chang's with the family. I got a great round of gifts from everyone, especially the Nintendo Wii. I had a great night and it was awesome.

Rapidly Approacing 29!

Nov. 28th, 2007 marks my 29th year on this planet. I can't deny that last year was one of the best birthdays I've ever had. I had recently gone through a divorce and I was trying to make sense out of everything that had happened. My life seriously had taken a very bizarre turn from the year before. The summer of 2006 was pretty miserable. I did have a lot of good friends reach out to me and make things easier, but it was pretty devastating all the same. I guess that is why my birthday was so fun last year. Because much of the year was miserable. It was a turning point in my life. I wasn't going to be sad anymore. I wasn't going to be frustrated. I was going to return to enjoying life. I was going to be optimistic about my future. I was going to refocus my attentions on achieving the things that I wanted.

Last year, I purchased tickets to see Alice in Chains and went with my brother. We had an awesome time and the concert was pretty boss. The next morning I was on Kevin and Bean's What It Do Nephew. I went to Outback Steak House for dinner, which is a favorite eatery.
And spent a good part of the day drunk. And then a couple of weeks later partied with some of my dearest friends.

This year is looking up. I'm going to P.F. Changs with my family. And Saturday I plan to go party with some of my dearest friends to celebrate. I'm not really expecting this year to measure up to last year. It can't. I was down for so long it was one of the few bright spots of last year. This year, I really haven't been down. I'm having a good year. I'm thankful for that. And to top things off, my brother is taking me to see... Alice in Chains. I guess he figured he do me a solid and take me to see one our favorite bands. Not to mention, we'll be seeing Velvet Revolver.

Like I said, this year has been so much better than last year. This birthday won't be as uplifting as last year, but I look forward to having a great time.
