Yeah, neither had I. The Grilled Cheese Truck is a gourmet [quick order] coach specializing in Grilled Cheese Sandwiches. And not just the grilled cheese your mom used to make. No, these sandwiches are loaded with all kinds of goodness. I first found out about the specialty sandwiches on the Frosty, Heidi, and Frank show on KABC 790. I started to plan my trek to receive a delicious sandwich.
I normally don't fancy driving to the City, but I was more than motivated to surprise my girlfriend with an unexplained trip to Westwood. The drive was longer than I would have made for most restaurants but I was okay with making my first trip to the Melting. The sandwich I was looking forward to destroying was the roast beef, provolone, caramelized onions and mustard. But I was out of luck on that. Unfortunately for me, all the roast beef was used up by lunch time.
What I settled for was still very delicious and a specialty of the GCT group that was entered into the 7th Annual LA's Grilled Cheese Invitational. It was the Cheesy Mac and Rib Melt, with caramelized onions and an order of the crispiest tater tots that would have made Napoleon Dynamite jealous. My lovely lady and I crushed these delicacies with much joy. I'm no trendy hipster and I certainly felt a little out of place, but the sandwich was epic. I'm certainly no food critique but this was an amazing sandwich, which I would give 5 Stars. It tasted great. It was fulfilling and left me satisfied. If you ever have the opportunity to sample one of these treats, I highly recommend it. They are so choice.
